SOQUEL, SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL. Soquel Creek Water District maintains a set of water-efficiency rebates for eligible registered customers. Current program listings include support for replacing lawns with low-water landscaping, upgrading drip irrigation and improving indoor water efficiency.
What residents should know
The turf replacement program advertises up to $2 per square foot, with a maximum of $2,000 per fiscal year for a single-family residential customer and up to $10,000 for commercial and multifamily customers. Artificial turf does not qualify, and a pre-inspection is required.
A drip irrigation retrofit can qualify for up to $20 per 100 square feet, with separate annual ceilings for residential and larger properties. The district also lists smaller rebates for qualifying showerheads, toilets, weather-based irrigation controls and rain catchment.
To apply, customers must register in WaterSmart and follow each rebate’s instructions. The district normally credits approved rebates to a water bill, though certain exceptions apply.
Funding, eligibility, timing and equipment standards may change. Residents should not make an irreversible purchase or remove a lawn until they have checked current terms and obtained any required pre-approval.
